Tips for Marketing to Millennials July 24, 2015
Did you know that millennials – the 18- to 32-year old set – represent one-third of the total U.S. population, roughly 80 million people? This makes them a big target market so what are they doing and how do you move them?
For starters the average millennial spends 1.8 hours each 8-hour workday on social media alone. If you want to stand out with your video marketing campaign, you’ll need to appeal to the Millennial senses. Here are three things to remember when creating content:
They Love Love
Unlike the generations preceding them, their biggest fears and hopes are based in love and friendship as opposed to power and money. They want to feel good about their choices so give them a reason to do so.
Keeping it Real
Authenticity and transparency are two characteristics that attract millennials and turn them into loyal consumers and brand ambassadors. Find the passion that drives you and your company and share it in your marketing.
Get Up, Stand Up
Millennials are confident and willing to stand up for what they believe in (see The Occupy Movement). As the most diverse generation to date, and with a strong desire to connect with their community (Facebook, ya’ll), they prefer to support philanthropic, socially responsible brands.
Millennials prefer using their mobile devices because it’s convenient and if they like what they see, they can share it instantly. If done right, connecting with this generation could mean big success for you and your company.
